WHAT IS SOMATIC BODYWORK?
Somatic bodywork is a trauma-informed, therapeutic technique that focuses on the connection between the body and the mind. It uses a hands-on technique that interacts with the nervous system and promotes healing at the deepest level. Somatic bodywork is all about helping you become more aware of your body, release tension, and improve your overall physical and emotional well-being.

WHAT IS THE MIND BODY CONNECTION?
The mind-body connection refers to the two-way connection and interaction between our mental state and our bodies. This is where our mental processes can directly influence our physical health and vice versa. Our body houses all of our life experiences, positive and negative. Somatic mindfulness and somatic bodywork can help you reconnect and relax both the body and mind.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE A SOMATIC BODYWORK SESSION?
Somatic Bodywork can be experienced fully clothed or undressed and draped like a traditional massage. Each session is tailored to your needs at the time of the session. Sessions are collaborative and can include somatic mindfulness, reiki, guided meditation, breathwork, and traditional massage techniques.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING A SOMATIC BODYWORK SESSION?
Before getting on the massage table, I will invite you to close your eyes and check in with your body. After you check in, I will ask you to tell me where you are feeling stress, tension, pain, or emotional feelings in your body. We will then transition to the massage table. While on the table, I will use a variety of gentle, hands-on techniques to help release tension and promote relaxation. In addition to hands-on techniques, I may include breathwork and guided meditation to increase the feeling of relaxation and further reduce tension.
Following the massage (once you are dressed), I will ask you to close your eyes again and check in with your body and revisit how you are feeling. We will note the differences (if any), and I may suggest things you can do at home to increase your mind-body connection.
